static page as homepage?

hi folks – i’ve just created my site, and am looking to put a page with links elsewhere in the site as the homepage rather than the latest blog entry (with the blog on the sidebar).

i had a wordpress blog before and i seem to remember that option being in there somewhere – but on the version i have uploaded on my site i can’t find it…

can anyone advise please?
