Some Language Issues … Maybe.

  • So, I’m building my old high school’s web site, and for that I installed WordPress, along with 19 of my favourite plug-ins. I’ve created a custom skin, that kind of moves the focus away from average blog style sites, though keeping most of the interactivity features (Jeez, just listen to the sales talk). Anyway, I’m using EventCalendar on the site, which is just so amazing, it’s creepy. But, as the site is in Afrikaans, and the months and days are displayed in English – I’m in trouble.

    I don’t want the administrative section of WordPress in Afrikaans, I just need the dates in the site to display in Afrikaans. Is there a plug-in that’ll help me achieve this, or can someone please guide me in modifying the necessary files? Any help with this regard will highly appreciated.

    Oh, and I’ll soon be posting a link to the site so you can tell me what you think. I’m just working on the final bugs in the layout that keeps it from validating.

  • The months and day names etc. are in the file called locale.php in wp-includes. Let’s hope the EC plugin takes the names from there ??

    Thank you so much for the help on that. It took me a while to figure out I had to change all the variables into Afrikaans, but it works perfectly now. It changed all the date settings in the administrtive panel of WordPress, too. But that’s okay.

    I’m so excited with what I’ve done with the web site. It’s the first time I’ve used WordPress (not counting the time I installed it on a test server), and it’s really the most amazing piece of software on the internet. I’ll be uploading the link soon so everyone here can have a look at it before it goes public at the end of the month.
