Need help in uploading themes

  • Hi All:

    I can login to the website and go to the admin page. i am not able to download the theme and upload it in the website. when i read the documentation, it says that we need to use FTP and upload the file. i am not able to find the FTP path. Please do let me know.

  • are you using a WP.com account or are you installing WP onto a web account you have setup with a hosting company?

    if you have an account with a host, you should be able to FTP and upload the theme folder to the “wp-content/themes/” folder and then login into the admin and under presentation select your theme

    I am using wp.com account only. the problem is i am able to see the folders in the wp-content/themes which are the default style folders. But i need to know how to upload a new theme over that place??

    At wp.com you cannot – you can use only the themes offered by your host.

    I too am having issues with uploading new themes as well. I own my own domain and have installed WP. I’ve ftp’d the folders/files over – but I am unable to see the new template in “presentation”.

    Here is the ftp path that I am using:

    /public_html/wp/wp-content/themes/gridlock-theme

    The css file is included in the directory. Any suggestions.
