I uploaded a pattern to replace my original background (made it in Illustrator, converted to a .png & a .jpg and tried uploading both separately). Each time I upload it, it only shows up as a little thumbnail-sized picture in the preview window, and also puts a lot of white space between each one when I select “Tile.”

I made it a huge image (20″x20″) but no matter how large I make it in Illustrator, it shrinks whenever I bring it into WordPress. Once I go to view the site itself, I can’t even see the thumbnails in the background. Not sure if I am using a bad file format or something. Thanks for any advice you can give!

P.S. The site came with a dotted background (angstromdesign.org) that stays still as you scroll. Maybe if I am going to use my own image and try to do the same, I need to buy the Customize option on my site so I can get a plugin or code? I am only paying for the domain/hosting right now and doing what designing I can for free.
