Two htaccess files needed?

  • Hi,

    do I need two htaccess files? According to WordPress’ FAQs you have to copy (NOT MOVE) htaccess into root directory, if the installation is placed in an own directory.

    But I’m wondering if they are really needed permanently. And if so, should they have the same content?

    How about index.php?

  • No, you dont need two files. Just one file in your wordpress folder is enough, it’s the same for index.php too.
