    Hi,

I’m new to WordPress and trying to make my site as nice as possible.

I’ve downloaded the Easing Slider “Lite” and Meta Slider plug ins, but I can’t figure out how to use either them in my header. I can’t even work out how to add images to the Meta Slider at all. Can you help?

My theme is the ‘Forever’ theme, is it possible to do this?

I’m not overly familiar with all the terms so as easy an explanation as possible would be great!

    Thank you for your help!

    Helen

  • Forever theme comes with a home page slider already, just like the demo.

Make a few posts and make each of them sticky. In each of them, insert image with a width of 888px or wider, and set that image to be a Featured image.

Stick this post to front page ( make a post sticky )

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for that!

I want to show about 5 rolling images in my header, but I haven’t actually written the posts to go in them as yet. Can I make these photos private so that they don’t show in the post?

ie, I want to put a picture of an elephant as one of the header images, but I haven’t written about it yet, so there’s no post for it to relate to if you know what I mean?

    Thanks,

    Helen

Have I explained that well? So I want the header to change image, but don’t necessarily want those images to relate to the posts Ii already have up there? I just want image rotation.

    Can I do that?

    Thanks,

    Helen

From my understanding, yes you can.

    1. Make a post with post name only, no text inside the content.
    2. Upload an image ( at least 888px wide ), don’t insert into post, just upload.
    3. Make that image a Feature image for that post.
    4. Make that post sticky, click publish.

( and repeat the step )

All of these sticky posts will be displayed in the home page slider. When clicked, tt will be just a post with post name and empty content. The Feature image is set for that post but since we havn’t insert into the post content so it won’t be shown.

    Ah, thank you!

I’m getting it to work now! But, it’s showing under the header picture, rather than being the header picture.

Can I make the featured image the header like in the demo?

    Here’s a link to my site: https://www.heleninwonderlust.co.uk/

    Thanks for all your help!

The header image is located above the navigation bar.

The home page slider is located below the navigation bar.

To make it look like demo, you must not have the header image, it won’t look good together. These are just options for us to decide on using, it doesn’t mean that we have to use them all at once.

The image currently used as header image could be moved to be part of slider instead, what do you think ?
