Shortcodes inside the gallery don't work properly

Hey there,
I feel bad asking this, and I’m pretty sure I know the answer but..
When putting in descriptions for images into wordpress I’m also including shortcodes which will render specific text. The shortcodes render the text fine when not called by the lightbox javascript, however when the lightbox displays the image with the caption it will only print out the shortcode and not what the shortcode should be displaying.
Any insight on this would be appreciated…
