• Uhm maybe not really a WordPress question, so please bare with me.

I want to add an flash audio player that plays mp3 files. Is it possible in any way to built it into a page but so that it stays static in the meaning that the visitor can navigate through the website but the music keeps playing. That the player doesn’t starts all over again with every new page/post etc. With php the page gets ‘refreshed’ all over again with every ‘click’ on a link right?

Or am I just being … not smart?

    TIA,

    Eric

  • Yeah, there’s an awesome plugin called Podpress. Depending on the Options, you can have it make a link to “Play In Pop-Up.” Then it puts the flash mp3 player in a tiny pop-up window. So when reader surfs away from your page, pop-up is still open and playing.

    Very impressive plugin.

It is not the plan to do this with a pop up. Any possibility of an embedded player!?

Of course the same plugin I mentioned, Podpress, offers the embedded player. Like I said, it’s a very impressive and flexible plugin. In your original question you said that you don’t want the audio to stop playing when the user refreshes or clicks to a new page. Therefore you will need a pop-up, or something bad like Frames on your site. Refreshing is refreshing is refreshing.

Ah ok thanks. So in facto it is not possible. Not without frames or pop up. I thought it would not be possible but just wanted to check it here.

@Dgold-In one of your posts you mentioned that you can “embed” the podpress player. I am looking to do this but have not found a way to do it. i don’t see any instructions on how to embed the player on a site. I would like it to replace my currect flash player (xspf) as this player does not validate. If you goto https://www.mytimewithgod.net you will see “sunday services”. This is the player i would like to replace but i would like the replacement player to show the tracks/videos available for listening. Thanks for any help

The player you have is embedded on your page, as opposed to using a pop-up window.

Perhaps you mean you would like to embed a player into posts, as seen on https://www.mightyseek.com/

The trouble described above is that when the player is embedded to a page, when a visitor navigates to a different page, the player will stop playing because a new page has been loaded in its window. One solution users have is to pop up the player in its own window.
