• I’m writing a blog post wanting to give credit to another person with a link. Here is the text view (I’m removing the <> so you can see the code):

Cara Mason over at a href="https://www.femalefirst.co.uk/foodanddrink/low-carb-recipe-gingered-vegetable-soup-293700.html"Female First /a posted this excellent recipe for ginger vegetable soup. It's interesting that she is using butternut squash in it. My wife made some butternut squash soup which was pretty good.

[Please post code & markup between backticks or use the code button. Your posted code has now been permanently damaged by the forum’s parser.]

When I switch to visual view, I can see the hyperlink is still there as it’s underlined.

But when I update my post, the hyperlink vanishes. The words are still there, but no hyperlink.

    My site: https://dietthatreallyworks.com

    What am I doing wrong?

    TIA

    JV

  • Don’t switch between editors – it causes problems.

Beyond that, how are you creating the link? Generally, type the text you want to make into a link, highlight it, click the link button, paste the URL – click OK and done.

Thanks – I tried inserting the link in several different ways. But I finally – albeit inadvertently – figured it out. The link does not show up on the truncated post, but when you click “Read More,” it does show up. I guess it’s a quirk of the theme I’m using. Thanks again for the reply.

Ah, sorry I missed that piece – that’s actually part of the_excerpt() function – it does strip out HTML and any images – see:
