I have a brand new WordPress install (3.5.1) and have been trying to get Twitter Widget Pro to work.

Unfortunately every time I press “Authorize New Account” I get the following error:

Could not recognize the response from Twitter

Note that I do not even get redirected away from the WordPress page. That message appears in a red bar across the top in the Settings portion of the TWP page on WP.

I have read numerous other threads on this problem and so far have found no solution.

    – I have disabled all other plugins.
    – I tried a fresh, completely clean install of WP and TWP.
    – I verified that CURL and OPENSSL are running.
    – I *do not* have a SSL certificate for my server (but that seems to have been solved as an issue).
    – I have un-installed/re-installed TWP more times than I care to count.
    – My Twitter account is setup appropriately along with the key & secret and copied into TWP. Twitter has a callback URL set. (not that this matters since I never even get re-directed to the Twitter page when trying to authenticate).

I am running this on a dedicated (not shared) hosted server. I have had their tech support trying to solve this as well. So far no one can figure out what the problem is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!
