  • Hi everyone,
I have exactly the same problem as downfoot1.

    Please help.

I pasted the short code on top of the the home page (home.php) and it works there when we access this page but it does not work on the sub pages or pages selected from the Main Menu. I use “ElegantThemes”.

    Thanks

Hi SylvainDube, I believe that your issue might be related to where you placed the shortcode. With Elegant Themes I believe that home.php is active ONLY on the homepage, so I’m thinking that’s why it doesn’t work on your inner pages.

Try placing the shortcode in your header.php (if that location works for you) and see if that does the trick. header.php should always be active throughout the website.

If that doesn’t work, please let me know and I will try and help further.

downfoot1, would you mind sharing the location of where you placed the Google Translator shortcode in your Elegant Theme files? This might help me resolve your issue.

    Thanks! Rob

This file: header.php has a strange behaviour… (I am not a computer geek). It does not like to be “text” edited. It changes it’s name as I try to save it.
Even when I succeeded to get the header.php file modified it turned my site into a chaos (no formatting).

So, no, I have not been able to make the translator work in the header.php.

    Regards

Ok Now I did manage to make it work in the header.php

Sometimes just formulating a question is the first step to get to an answer…

    Thanks anyways.

No problem, SylvainDube….I’m glad it is working now, which means mission accomplished. Thanks! I will close this topic.

Hi downfoot1, in header.php you will need to use this code snippet in order to activate it there:

    <?php echo do_shortcode('[google-translator]'); ?>

In my future updates I will be adding this instruction, so that there is not confusion.

Let me know if that works!

    Thanks!

but i do add this, and still it wont show up

Hi downfoot1, I took a look at your source code, and I do see the styles being added, although you are correct, no code is showing up. I can take a look at this if you want, although it would require me logging into your site. Or, if you can send me your header.php, that might be a good first step.

Would you mind emailing me at rmyrick AT studio88design dot com? I will take a look and see if I can find anything.

Also, I did notice that you have two plugins adding duplicate META tags into your header (Add-Meta-Tags Plugin and All-In-One SEO Plugin). That probably won’t affect the plugin, but it never hurts to fix that. Send at anytime and I will try to see what I can find.

    Thanks!

    Hi rm2773:

Please have a look at afrocubanallstarsonline.com

As you see, in the Menu I′ve added a flag to visit the site versions in english (default) or spanish (translation by me). I′d like to add a custom menu (for example with the UN flag) that when i click on it makes appear the Google Translate Tool bar on top of the page (above the photo gallery) and that works in all pages of the blog. But custom menus looks to link only to URLs. My goal is to make the translator engine appears in the main menu. Is that possible? How can i do it? Peace!

Afrocuban, thanks for your post – this might be tricky, but it could possibly be done. It would involve the use of jQuery possibly. I’m not quite sure how this would work yet.

    Please contact me here:

I’m also thinking this would be along the lines of a small project, but I will try and help you to give you the best guidance first.

    Thanks!
