good, free non-responsive theme?

Hello: this may sound a little strange but I am looking for a good wp theme that is free that is not responsive. Let me explain:

I am a site developer and am learning as I go. I am not advanced enough to just use 2011 or 2012 theme (both responsive) and just make everything perfect in a “responsive” way. I will get there; but I am not ready to go there yet. I still get work because a lot of people are satisfied with a “non responsive” website. (At least for now). So – the way I have been doing this is using thesis 1.85 which is a great theme and is also non-responsive. I can customize it however I like – and just need to make sure that the elements can shrink down properly when the site is viewed on smaller screens. The only issue is that thesis is not free. So – I am looking for a “free” alternative. Or – if there was an “easy” way to turn off the responsive part of 2011 or 2012 I could just use those. But I am guessing there is no way to do this.

Oh – and I know probably the way advanced programmers do this is just to “write” a theme from the ground up. But I am not advanced enough to do that. All I am capable of right now is either having a child theme and custom page templates…

Anyone have any input on this?
