I’m new at this.

seekdotnet.com is a Windows host, but they also have php and mySQL.

I installed WordPress following the instruction on this website and got was given the admin username and password. Everything was easy and swift. However, when I tried to login at the wp-login.php page, I get redirected to the url https://blog.<mysite>.com/blog/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fblog%2Fwp-admin%2Findex.php with the following error:

—————————————————–

The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
——————————————————————————–

Please try the following:

Make sure that the Web site address displayed in the address bar of your browser is spelled and formatted correctly.
If you reached this page by clicking a link, contact the Web site administrator to alert them that the link is incorrectly formatted.
Click the Back button to try another link.
HTTP Error 404 – File or directory not found.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

Thanks in advance for any help at all.

I desperately need help here guys. Me and my girlfriend’s anniversary is in 2 weeks and I’m making this website to surprise her.

HELP!

-Jay

It seems you messed up the two URIs in the Options > General.
Or there is something wrong with how your subdomain is set up.
The blog wants to go to https://blog.simonandcrystal.com/blog
If you have access to phpMyadmin, use this guide to set the correct values for site_url and home:
https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

Before that you could tell us where exactly is your WP installed?

I think we’re on the right track on solving my problem here.

Here’s some information on my site.

The WordPress files were uploaded to simonandcrystal.com\public_html\blog and I have a virtual sub-domain of blog.simonandcrystal.com.

Thanks for any help.

The url blog.simonandcrystal.com does bring me to the blog page.

The problem seems to be that all the links on the blog page are trying to point to blog.simonandcrystal.com/blog/<file_name>, which doesn’t exsist because the directory on the server with all the WP files is simonandcrystal.com/public_html/blog.

How do I update this in WP so it’ll work?

Thanks!

-Jay

WP “hates” these fake subdomains which redirect to a real subfolder. Everybody has problems with them.
You can try one thing: to set the two values differently – following the guide I linked above.
site_url should be where your WP files are located and
home should be where you want to see the blog.

Thanks Moshu, I’ll try that out.

-Jay

If it doesn’t work – then I am afraid you have to give up the subdomain idea, at least until you get hosted on a server that allows real subdomains.

Mushu, first of all, I want to thank you and everyone else that helped me on this. EVERYTHING WORKS NOW!

Mushu’s link did the trick. I changed both the home and siteURL to blog.simonandcrystal.com and now it works like a charm.

Thanks a bunch.

-Jay

Great, I am glad it worked for you. Happy blogging!
(btw, it’s O, mOshu ??
