Disable interactive share buttons in responsive theme

I’m having a difficult time disabling the interactive Facebook and Twitter share icons while my site is in responsive mode.
When a post is viewed on a mobile device, the icons bunch up and hover over the first few paragraphs of text.
What would I add or change in my stylesheet?
