"Are you sure you want to do this?"

  • This message is in WordPress core and is related to nonces.

    We finished adding nonce security to our forms and so I’m posting this in advance should anyone experience an issue with a form that ends with this message being displayed…

    Are you sure you want to do this?

    Our plugin has a lot of forms to submit so its always possible we have missed one. It’s easy fixed so just let us know and we’ll sort it straight away.

    I just found something worth noting.

    Last night I setup a linke with URL nonce. The page was still open in my browser this morning and I continued where I left off. I clicked on the link and got the “Are you sure you want to do this?” message. This will be because the nonce expires obviously.

    It was just worth noting here should any user ever do this. I’m considering wp_verify_nonce() instead and we will handle the exit() or die() better with more information.
