[Plugin: Events Manager] Category archive showing future events only

I have Events Manager set up on my web, with some categories for events.
I also have some custom templates for these categories, taxonomy-event-categories-[category].php, which work fine. I run the query from my templates, not using shortcuts; and I don`t use the formatting tab either to format my category archive pages.

My problem is, these category pages seem to show future events only, and I like to show all events, past and future. I see there are some options under the settings page to set the scope of the query for archive/list pages for events, but this option is missing under the event category options.
I’ve tried to modify the main query to achieve this, but haven’t been able to get the right syntax, or found another solution in the documentation.

Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.
