Adding new Categories to my page

    Hi there – i have a food blog and i’ve begun to add new categories…on my page, the categories show up but when i select the category for the particular item, it’s not showing up on the page…a few examples are:

    Drinks
    Granola
    Side Dishes

    It was also brought to my attention that recipes assigned to categories are not showing up…an example would be

    my pancakes, if you do a search they come up and show that they are under “breakfast” yet if you go to my “recipes” page and look under breakfast…pancakes do not show up…can anyone help me?

    Did you by any chance limit the number of displayed items from a certain category? I’m talking about Recipes page. I see the categories show 5 posts max.

    Seems like you’re using List category posts plugin , right?
    Please,check the instructions here.
    For example:

    numberposts – Number of posts to return. Set to 0 to use the max number of posts per page. Set to -1 to remove the limit. Default: 5. Ex: [catlist name=mycategory numberposts=10]

    i’m sorry i haven’t been around to answer and i really do appreciate your help…i don’t have it listed like that…this is how i have it listed…

    Dinner Entree

    [catlist id=22 orderby=title order=ASC]

    Drinks

    [catlist id=23 orderby=title order=ASC]

    Holiday

    i’m not so good with the programing part as i hired someone to do it for me and i basically stick to the basics…i just wanted to start adding categories and i also recognized that some categories were not showing all the categories…any other thoughts?

    Try adding something like this:
    [catlist id=7 orderby=title order=ASC numberposts=10]

    Category with id 7 is Breakfast,right? Let me know if that helps. If you see any change we’ll fine tune it.

    thank you so much…you are the best!!! so i got more to show up…will i be limited to only 10?

    my second issue was that when i add a new category, nothing shows up in that category…how do i see what the ID is? i’ve just guessed for the 3 categories i added (i had someone design my site so i was afraid to venture off)

    The plugin’s instructions:

    Set to 0 to use the max number of posts per page. Set to -1 to remove the limit. Default: 5. Ex: [catlist name=mycategory numberposts=10]

    So,if you add something like: [catlist id=7 orderby=title order=ASC numberposts=-1] it should show all the posts from that category. You can also try with numberposts=0

    Go to Administration > Posts > Categories
    You can find out the category ID by hovering over a category link and it will show in the browser bar at bottom.
