Theme not reading translation (.po) file
-
I’m using WordPress 3.5.1 and WooCommerce 2.0.8 for my eCommerce site and trying to (at least partially) translate my MayaShop Theme in finnish.
Since the Theme didn’t include finnish language file at all, I made my own with PoEdit using both yiw.pot and default.po files in /maya/languages directory as my source files (on separate instances). It seems the Theme isn’t reading the file at all, since none of the translations I made had any effect on the resulting page.
I checked the wp_config.php which includes the line
define (‘WPLANG’, ‘fi’);
for finnish language in WordPress. The theme language file is named fi_FI.po (or .mo) as instructed in the documentation on translating wordpress (plugins), but renaming the language file as fi.po (or .mo) won’t do any difference. Should I call the language file within the theme and if so, in which file and with what function, or are there some other things that I’m missing?
Thanks for the help, it’s a great forum and some superior software!
