    Submit is only if you don’t want to press post “update” button.
    Maybe you are right and is redundant, but my thought was if someone wants to place the metabox on the bottom (as its default position) and doesn’t want to scroll up to hit “update”, “submit” is an alternative.

    Have you tried to hit update to see if the date is stored?

    “Submit” works on my side only when the post has been saved before. I would let go of that button. You could try a grey unobtrusive link: scroll to top… maybe?

    The datepicker looks great.
    Would you consider adding your plugin name “Posts To Events” and a subtle description. to the meta box; otherwise it might be confusing after a while, when you manage several websites and use different plugins for similar purposes…
