• Does anyone know how i could minorly change the look of a page on my wp site and not change the way that posts look on the main page.

I would like to do things like removed the posted date, the sidebar and things like that.

  • Well, first of all, see the Pages article in the Codex and especially the Page Templates section.
Now, removing the date it’s easy. Removing a sidebar – usually it is a kind of re-design. So, they are definitely not the same “things like that” category ??

kk, i now have a page template

but now how do i remove the sidebar?

the only way i can think of is to create a header tempate, that does not include the sidebar, just for the page tempate and point the page template to it
im just not real sure how to pull that off

Not knowing which theme are you talking about (out of the more than 400) and not having a link to your blog… it’s like shooting in the dark ??

i use a modified Deichnetz 1.0 by Heino Stavermann (deichnetz.de)

would it help to post the contents of my index, page and or header template files?

Not really – I mean posting the code. Especially here ??
If you ever need to show a long code, use https://pastebin.com or a similar service and post back the URL.

And your sidebar is called from the footer, as usually happens.
Furthermore, removing the sidebar will not, I repeat will not make your content area wider! The space for the sidebar will be still there. When I said in my first reply “removing the sidebar is a re-design” you should have listened…
