• I see there is a considerable amount of discussion about the large number of database records slowing down the performance of WP.

Any concerns/suggestions about running a WP site with over 20,000 posts?

  • 20,000 posts should not cause any issues. I have worked on sites with over 100,000 posts. You will need to make sure your code is efficient and that you cache any expensive queries.

Thank you Chris for your prompt response.

My concern is with the time it takes the editor to save a new post. We have now only about 2500 post and it already takes close to one minute to save new revision. At the same time the website loads in 5 to 10 sec. only.

I’m limiting number of revisions down to 3. My Database is regularly optimized.

With out current rate of growth I’m expecting we’ll have over 20,000 posts in just over a year.

Will the time of saving a new posts get any longer then?
