• Since upgrading to v3.0.8 our backups have stopped working (around March 26th).

We call xcloner from a crontab job.

I have v3.0.7 on test servers and it’s still working fine.

When generating a backup from the UI get the following error:

There was an error retrieving the JSON data from the server, try again or contact the developers!

    Details: error — undefined

    JSON url: index2.php?option=com_cloner&task=refresh&json=1&startf=500&lines=1987&backup=backup_2013-04-04_05-59_www.redacted.com-sql-nodrop.tgz&excl_manual=

When calling the script from the crontab I get an error.

We upgraded to v3.0.8 on the same day that our backups have stopped.

I’ve also noticed in some of our other sites that the backup file being generated no longer contains the website url which it did before.

    e.g.
    USUAL: backup_2013-03-26_03-00_www.redacted.com-sql-nodrop.tgz
    CURRENT: backup_2013-03-27_03-00_-sql-nodrop.tar

No backups to our S3 either.

Looks like the upgrade to 3.0.8 wiped out our S3 details and reset the config options.

I confirmed with our other sites using the plugin that upgrading from 3.0.7 to 3.0.8 wipes out the configuration settings.

Found this in the error logs

    [Thu Apr 04 06:06:02.247310 2013] [cgi:error] [pid 5165] [client 101.164.9.228:56030] End of script output before headers: index2.php, referer: https://www.redacted.com/wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/index2.php

You should set the Backup Compress option back to No and try again the backup process

I got the backups working again by saying “Yes” to manual backups and “Yes” to compression.

Upgrading from 3.0.7 to 3.0.8 still loses the xcloner configuration settings though (resets it back to default admin)

for me, it worked with saying “No” for Manual Backups and “Yes” for Compression ?? Even though I was testing this by creating a MANUAL backup ?? First cron-job backup will be done tonight…

jopsvanthof, how did the cron-job backup work for you?

Archertc: it looks like the cron job’s working like a charm! However, I haven’t tried restoring the website using the created backup yet… Which is the only proof of the pudding I guess…

Good to know. When you try the restoration, a follow up post would be most appreciated. I’m going to give this a try and report back myself.
