Most customizable theme?

Hi.

Having learnt html/css I next turned to wordpress because I found learning -php and -CMS myself too time consuming for the moment.

I’m in need of help looking for a blog theme that’s built with the intent for great user customizablity with CSS. I started off editing the default theme and ran into few too many obstacles and hence was wondering if there was a better theme out there for my purpose.
