Hi @aramaz, we aren’t making any money from “Lite”. Easing Slider “Lite” is a free project we happily maintain in conjunction to our premium offerring, Easing Slider “Pro”.

We tried very hard to make it clear that we had major upgrades coming. We put this message into the header of the plugin over three months beforehand. I’m sorry if you missed it. See the screenshot below taken from v1.2.1

This message linked to a blog post which was very informative and thorough in explaining what was to come. It was released in November 2012. We tried all measures possible to keep users informed.

Be sure to import your settings from the update after upgrading. That’s all that should be required. I’m happy to help if you wish to troubleshoot any issues that are occurring.

Here is a video guide to importing your settings.

We’ve tried to put as many measures as possible in place to make the transition between versions seamless. However, if jQuery errors or bugs within other plugins/theme have caused errors then there is not much I can do about that.

All of the old shortcodes, PHP functions, etc, should still work. No changes on this part should be required.

None-the-less, very sorry about the inconvenience caused.

Oh, I know you aren’t making money from Lite, I was referring to dividing the original Easing Slider into the Lite and the Pro version. The thing is this kind of a message will go unnoticed by most clients (I didn’t get any notice from my client) especially if they don’t really visit the “Easing Slider” part of the site, and my client didn’t need to because all the slides were set and didn’t need to be updated.

Was this notice displayed anywhere in WordPress’s main admin screen?

I updated the plugin not knowing about this big change and found, even after importing old settings that the slide classes within the plugin were changed which broke the layout and I had to spend some time fixing it. I realize I am complaining about a free service, but it just caught me off guard as I didn’t expect it.

Anyway, thanks for the upgrading links, as they might come in handy to someone doing the upgrade, and best of luck to you in selling the Pro version.

Thanks, appreciate the information. I understand that it isn’t always ideal, but I guess with WordPress we have to work with what we are given.

Yes, the message was displayed within the admin screen, within the Easing Slider admin panel. Once dismissed it wouldn’t show again. The message was also printed within the ‘Plugins’ WordPress admin panel along with the Easing Slider plugin description.

Unfortunately it wasn’t possible to make the upgrade automatic and fully seamless. Initially we did but users were have problems with the plugin de-activating after upgrading and thus not firing the upgrade procedures correctly. As a result we had to make them manual. After that, the plugin should have been working fine, but we all know that this often isn’t the case. I’ve been in that position many times before, but definitely tried to be as accommodating as possible with v2.0. I know the frustration.

Very sorry once again for the inconvenience caused. I do hope everything is alright now. No more big changes to come now that v2.0 is out of the way, if that is any consolation. Again, apologies.

That is weird as when I did the update yesterday, the message wasn’t there and my client didn’t mention anything about it to me.

Yeah, if the messages were there, the transition would have been more or less painless. Must have been either a glitch or the client Dismissed it and forgot to notify me.

Possibly. What’s done is done I guess. My sincere apologies, I do understand the frustration.
