I was running 1.5x and recently switched to a new host and thought now’d be a good time to upgrade my blogs. I moved some of my blogs from their old homes—directories in my domain—to their new homes—their own subdomains—and that worked just fine. I moved other blogs from the web root in the domain—html or public_html on the other hosts and now httpdocs on the new host—and that also worked fine. Unfortunately, there was one blog that didn’t transfer over well. The content went just fine but the admin pages don’t work at all. I’ve reinstalled the instance of wordpress a number of times. I’ve reinstalled the sqldump a number of times. I even reinstalled my system (thinking there was something wrong with my browser parsing php or something) and nothing fixed it.

Though, as I said, all the other hosting accounts I have at the new host have blogs that transferred over just fine (be they in their own domains or in subdomains) and on all those accounts the permissions match the permissions precisely as the one that isn’t working. On the one that isn’t working I get permissions errors for the admin pages though it let me login to the main admin page (wordpress/wp-admin/index.php) but once in the admin page it doesn’t show me the buttons across the top (Dashboard, write, manage, links, etc.) though everything else looks as it should. If I then force it to show me one of the other admin pages (like going to /wp-admin/edit.php) I get the permission error (“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”).

I’m at my wit’s end. I’ve reinstalled WP 2.02 and even reinstalled my system (thinking it was a problem with IE or with something else peripherally related). I’ve tried removing all the plugins and special site templates and modifications and starting with a fresh wp install and that had no impact. Incidentally the problem exists when attempting to login from other machines as well and when attempting to access it from ie6 or from ff1.5. Further, it exists on PC, Mac, and Linux. This seems to be WP related not system related. Thoughts? Thanks!
