Limit the characters in the post excerpt

I too would love to just do an excerpt with the post.

I saw some old code in a different thread here – but trying to put those lines in was not successful for me.

The old code in the thread you saw DOES work, I saw that and just did it successfully! Here’s how:

1) Visit the plugin creator’s Github link where he has updated his codeset with the code you need: https://raw.github.com/jtatum/get-post/master/class-get-post-getter.php
2) Copy & Paste everything in there.
3) Go to your WP admin page & click on “Installed Plugins”
4) Find “Get Post” and click on Edit
5) Select the “get-post/class-get-post-getter.php” page from the picklist on the right
6) Replace all that with the code you have copied in your clipboard & “Update File”
7) Go back to your plugins list, find “Get Post” and click on “Settings”
8) Change this:
<div class=”entry”>{content}</div>
To this:
<div class=”entry”>{excerpt}</div>
9) Refresh your site.
10) Gasp.
11) Enjoy.
