Problems with WordPress install with Filezilla and Laughing Squid

  • Hi all,

    I’m trying to install WordPress to my website https://www.theseedblog.com and it isn’t showing anything when I type https://theseedblog.com/wp-admin/install.php. Here’s what I did…

    1. I downloaded WordPress, unzipped it and changed the info in the wp-config.php as instructed (it’s always possible there’s an error here – what would it mean if there was?).

    2. I created a database using the control panel at Laughing Squid, named it, got the password information etc

    3. I connected Filezilla to my website and uploaded the files. I wasn’t sure which was the root directory so I uploaded them to the directory that just had a forward slash as its name ( / ). Then I tried typing in https://theseedblog.com/wp-admin/install.php. Nothing happened.

    4. I then deleted these files and reuploaded WordPress to /theseedblog and tried again, still nothing happened.

    Any clues as to where I have gone wrong?

  • Hi Beth,

    It looks like you need to point your domain “theseedblog.com” to your Laughing Squid Web Hosting web hosting account.

    According to their FAQ (https://laughingsquid.us/faq/domain/) you need to change your nameservers to dns1.stabletransit.com & dns2.stabletransit.com

    Please note that any DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate
