  • I agree. I won’t use this plugin until this option is a available.

I have a page all set, waiting in the wings. It’s going live the second this comes in!

    Hello,

I realise that this is a feature that many people require, so I’m sorry to disappoint, but this isn’t likely to happen soon, I’m afraid.

The reason for this is that I need to update the plugin to use version 3 of the Google Calendar API, as the version that the plugin currently uses has been deprecated and is scheduled to be “switched off” sometime next year. This isn’t a simple task, as the new API requires authentication for all requests for calendar data, which means building an OAuth 2 client and handling various auth tokens and stuff like that, which I haven’t really got my head around yet. It’s a lot more complex than copy / pasting a feed URL, as is currently required.

Basically, it doesn’t seem worth adding features such as event titles in the calendar grid, if the plugin is going to stop working altogether next year if I don’t get it updated to the new API.

I am working on this when I can, but it’s slow going, if I’m honest.

So, whilst I imagine this is not what you wanted to hear, I hope it explains my reasoning behind holding back on new features.

Ross, thanks for taking the time to write this out. It’s a total bummer that this feature isn’t looking likely, but I totally get that this is essentially volunteer work. Do keep us posted if anything changes. Good luck.
