I needed to update to the newest version of wordpress, so I installed the plugin backitup. Upon installation, I got a white screen with this text and now am stuck. I think my entire blog has been erased. Is there anything I can do?

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_transient() in /home/valeriea/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-backitup/lib/functions.php on line 200

This is my login page and I can see that. When I log in, the above message is all I see. Can anybody help? This is 4 years of blogging, gone!

  • Don’t panic. Your content is quite safe. Just FTP into your site (or whatever file management application your host provides) & delete the wp-content/plugins/wp-backitup folder.

Really? Thank you esmi! I haven’t logged into my cpanel in a couple years and forgot the info. I just e-mailed my server to get my password. I will come back on here later after I hear back and try this and let you know if it worked.

    Really?

Yes. Just looks like a bad plugin install. It shouldn’t have touched your database – which is where your content is actually stored.

I figured it out through my cpanel. I just deleted the plugin. Thank you so much!

    No problem ??
