google webmaster verification NOOB issue

Hi I have added a site bodybananas.tv to google webmasters I then have to verify the domain (i have a google apps account and i have also pointed the domain to my gmail, i don’t know if this has anything to do with this but i am super noobish so I am just mentioning it) I have to verify it by using an Html code that i download – since i know nothing about ftp, or html or all this stuff i went to hostgator and told the support in live chat my issue – he told me to go to filemanagement in my cpanel and go to public web html root and upload the html file – I did that. He then told me to install a wordpress plugin called add-from-server, and add the google.html file to media.

all this went smooth i now have it in media… but now? what do i do with it? he said i have to put it in the header, i have no idea to do that.

Before all this, I installed wordpress SEO by yoast and in the webasters section i took the “meta html tag” from google master as yoast ask me to do and pasted into the field and pressed save setting.

My issue is that the status in the webmaster tools dashboard is still no statust… i can’t see anything i have no idea when i did this if my site was verified. so I erased the meta tag pressed save settings and did the part with the html upload.

Do anyone understand what I am talking about? I feel that I am to noob for this stuff and i am very frustrated since it propbaly is such a simple step!
