I have a total of three sites on my server, and every time I go to the stats page, my site crashes, and every single site I have on that server does not respond.

It takes sometimes 10 minutes for me to access the sites again.

I’m not sure if there is a loop problem or bug that happens when there are lots of records in the database. But something is really wrong. Only one of my sites is doing this, and it’s the site with the most traffic.

It looks like your database configuration could use some love ??

How would I change anything? All this is built from WordPress and the SlimStat Plugin.

Ask someone who is skilled in optimizing MySQL configurations. Not an issue with WP SlimStat. If it was, do you think that 370,000 people would have downloaded it without complaining about this? ??

Actually, I only have problems when I click to view the stats. So there is something wrong, and don’t know what it is.

You don’t really think that everyone who has a problem would complain about it do you? I’m sure they would just remove the program.

The only reason why I’m here looking for help is because I have been using this program for I think 2 years now and have never had problems until recently.

Just re-activated the plugin on one of my sites again, tried to look at the stats page, checked server and memory usage shot up to 82.9%. Now none of my sites on my VPS are responding.

There is a memory leak some where.

Dude, I don’t like your attitude. Maybe you’re better off using Google Analytics ??

    (@dotnetguru)

You don’t like my attitude because i’m here looking for a solution as to why every time I use SlimStat to view traffic stats, it crashes my server?

What kind of developer are you?

Me, I would be asking what browser i’m using, how much traffic my site gets, what kind of server i’m on, etc….

Are you kidding me right now? Some peoples kids, i’ll tell ya…

    (@coolmann)

So why didn’t you provide that information in the first place? ?? It doesn’t matter what browser you’re using, you will have to tune-up your MySQL to take the amount of load required to generate all the metrics and reports. I can tell you that on my crappy shared hosting I have about 500,000 pageviews in my database, and WP SlimStat loads in less then 5 seconds, with no problems at all. And my site gets about 6000 pageviews a day.

The attitude is that you think WP SlimStat is the problem, and are not willing to listen to THE SOLUTION I wrote here above. What else can I do?

Long story short: your server is under-dimensioned to be able to handle WP SlimStat. It is like you want to move your house’s furniture with a Smart. You can keep complaining that your Smart is slow and it ‘crashes’ as soon as you put your mattress on its roof, but the mattress is not the problem. Does it make sense?

And that’s why you should call a moving company to do the job, if you don’t have the right tools to do it yourself (i.e. use Google Analytics).

    Peace,
    Camu
