    Hello helpful WordPress experts!

I am new the website administration, and looking to upgrade my company’s current website (a Site-Builder created one, using Comcast as a host) to something that appears that is a part of the 21st century.
Comcast assures me that installing WordPress is possible with the package we pay for.

I have downloaded, and unzipped the files.

Through my host’s website I was able to create a mySQL database, and have all the information (username, password, server name).

I uploaded the WordPress installation files using my FTP to the ‘web’ directory (my web-host instructed to place the WordPress files here)

Then I went to https://www.mydomain.com/wp-admin/install.php and receive a ‘404 Page Not Found’ error message. So I am unable to create a log-in etc.

I tried manually changing the wp-config.php file, using my database info etc. —same problem. I also tried deleting the files and installing them into different directories (hoping the tech support was wrong at my hosting company)—-same problem.

    My URL is: https://www.pce.com

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • I would suggest that you try installing WordPress in a sub-folder off the main domain – not in the root domain folder.

    Hello Esmi –

Thank you for the response. I call my web-host and they fixed the problem for me. Apparently something ( I am not sure what) was missing a PHP extension.

    Thank you for your help.
