HOME page "author" deleted?

  • Newbie question. I am experimenting with WP, and working through learning it. Using 2012 theme. In my pages panel, “author” is missing next to the default HOME page. I have created another HOME page, and it functions as such. BUT–on the the page I have titled BLOG, I cannot remove the widgets and show full screen. This makes me think that I have somehow deleted the default HOME page (which used to say “author” next to it. Now it is labeled “admin”. Is this an issue I should be worried about? Is there some functionality in the default HOME page that I am lacking now, with it deleted? If so, how do I restore the “author” HOME page?
