Tablepress is an excellent plugin and I enjoy it a lot. But I have a difficulty with searching. When I search and start for example with an ‘k’, every items with a ‘k’ is listed. What I want is that I want to short only on total words, for example when I want to search on ‘part’, the list will be made after I put the whole word ‘part’ and not just after ‘p’, ‘pa’, etc.
I hope you can help me.

    Kind regards,

    Martien

    Hi Martien,

    thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, I don’t know, if and how that is possible. ?? The search feature comes from the external DataTables JavaScript library from https://www.datatables.net
I’m not the developer of that, but only added it to TablePress. Thus, I don’t know how this could be done ?? It would probably require a custom search function.

If I may spin this onto a related topic… the search function seems to be limited to a basic, “find all listed terms” search. Is there any avenue you know of, whether by an extension or whatever, to expand this into a more powerful search function? Whether with basic modifiers like AND and OR, or even just the ability to search for quoted phrases, Google-style. That would add hugely to the capabilities of the tool. Is this possible?

I really don’t know. I think I have to find the solution in the external DataTAbles JavaScript library, but I don’t have the knowledge.

    Hi,

yes, the search function is rather basic at this time. And as Martien already guessed, extending it to be more powerful would require writing a custom algorithm for the DataTables JS library. Unfortunately, I have no experience with that and therefore can’t help here ?? Sorry.

    Regards,
    Tobias
