category issue

WP 2.0.1

in the admin/manage area i’ve created a new category (immigration/legal issues) on my page at thepanamapages.com. i checked the box and my new posting shows a link to this new category. but the new category does not show up as a link on the sidebar. i can’t figure out why. i’m using a WP theme (operate) downloaded from the theme viewer. but the link provided to the author of this theme is not valid. so i can’t ask him what the deal is. no doubt this is an easy tweak but i’m still new at this. is there something obvious i’m missing? thanks.
