• I am receiving email notices of people who have joined our site. But they are not showing up in the database. They have very unusual email addresses and I now believe that they are ficticious and that they are not really from a person going to our site and clicking on Join Us. The from address on the email is “WordPress” <[email protected]> and appears to be legitimate. How can I find out where these emails are being generated and how do I stop them? Here are a few examples of the content of these notices:
    Username: PreciousC E-mail: [email protected]
    Username: RossFink E-mail: [email protected]
    Username: gerdi E-mail: [email protected]
I orginally thought that it was problem with the Participants Database plugin as the registrants don’t show up in the database at all. But now I don’t believe that to be true. I hope someone can help me with this issue.

  • Do you actually need registrations for something? If not, simply turn memberships to off by going to General Settings and unchecking the check box.

I have the same problem – several registrations every day with the .pl email extension (Poland). Gabe – if I have Jetpack mail subscriptions, does it do me any good to to have the box checked for “anyone can register?” It won’t prevent the Jetpack email registration will it? Also, if I have the box checked to allow registration, where on my site does the option to register show up for these folks who are registering?

I don’t use Jetpack but email subscriptions should not be affected by disallowing membership registrations.
