bbPress roles (plugin broke everything)

Hello Juan,

This is know issue and it is not fixed yet. bbPress creates its roles and capabilities on the fly, but URE saves bbPress capabilities to WP database when you change roles. After that we have some conflict here.
I offer you to try this way to fix that:
– Deactivate bbPress temporally.
– Delete all bbPress capabilities which could be saved by URE to other roles.
– deactivate URE.
– Activate bbPress back.

Hi Juan,

If you still use User Role Editor, it will be good if you give a try to the version 3.11 beta. It should not conflict with bbPress as I excluded bbPress related roles and permissions from processing by URE plugin.

At the moment it’s working without the plugin, I think the new version of bbPress solves the issue I needed. I was looking for users to be able to close/open their topics.

Vladimir, what do you mean by this? Is this for each individual user? Where would I do this?

I wrote that for roles only. I wrote about bbPress related capabilities which could stay in the non-bbPress roles after bbPress deactivations. It that case, you should go through role, which use them, exclude them, then delete all them.
With the latest 3.11 version of User Role Editor there is no need to do it manually. When you save any change to any role in User Role Editor all bbPress capabilities are excluded from all non-bbPress roles automatically.

You are right, it could be necessary to go through users, if you assigned some bbPress capabilities to them directly and delete those capabilites manually. Remember, that bbPress should be deactivated on that period.

Just to test my understanding. I would need to edit ‘wp_capabilities’ within the Usermeta table for every user in the database? Or, would I need to edit ‘wp_user_roles’ from within the Options table? Both?
