    One of my sites has gone completely blank. The problem seems to be with W3 Total Cache.

    When I try to get into admin I get the following message:

    Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘FileOperationException’ with message ‘/home/ronduffi/public_html/wp-content/w3tc-config/master.php could not be created, please run following command:

    • <strong style=”color: #f00;”>chmod 777 /home/ronduffi/public_html/wp-content/cache/tmp
    • <strong style=”color: #f00;”>chmod 777

      /home/ronduffi/public_html/wp-content/w3tc-config

    • ‘ in /home/ronduffi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/inc/functions/activation.php:127 Stack trace: #0 /home/ronduffi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/ConfigWriter.php(159): w3_throw_on_write_error(‘/home/ronduffi/…’, Array) #1 /home/ronduffi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/Config.php(71): W3_ConfigWriter->save() #2 /home/ronduffi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/CloudFlare.php(174): W3_Config->save() #3 /home/ronduffi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/lib/W3/Plugin/CloudFlare.php(52): W3_CloudFlare->update_ip_ranges() #4 /h in /home/ronduffi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/inc/functions/activation.php on line 127

    public_html/wp-content/w3tc-config/master.php do exist even thought the message says it could not be created.

  • To deactivate the plugin , rename the plugin folder using ftp or file manager of your hosting provider.

    Then login in to wordpress Admin panel , then again visit plugins page.
    After that , rename the plugin folder back to what it was.

    Now, you also have to go to public_html/wp-content/w3tc-config folder and chmod to 777 and test if the plugin is working or not after activation.

    If it still doesnt work. Please keep the plugin disabled and wait for the next release. Plugin author Fredrick has explained it in this thread

    Thanks for your quick response. My post would have been more complete but my favorite cook called me to dinner.

    I have followed your advise and everything is working fine again.

    Thanks again,

    I renamed the W3 total cache plugin folder. But still can’t login to my admin area. I now get this message:

    W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home/allesoverdraadloosinternet/html/allesoverdraadloosinternet.nl/V2/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.

    Help!

    Login to ftp and delete the file at wp-content/advanced-cache.php
