I have been running Online Backup with the backup file emailed to me for a couple of months. Several days ago, it stopped running on schedule, and I now have to do a manual backup. The error msg says that it is no longer scheduled. Nothing was changed on the schedule. I’ve looked at it, changed the hour & minute to perform backup for the schedule and “applied schedule” to it, but it still doesn’t schedule a backup. Both “database” and “filesystem” options are checked: is that a mistake? I don’t know if you need this to diagnose the problem:
Online Backup for WordPress Plugin Version 2.2.18
    WordPress Version: 3.5
    PHP Version: 5.2.17
    MySQL Server Version: 5.1.56-log
    MySQL Client Version: 1.0
    Mem: 256M; Post: 8M; Upload: 2M; Timeout: 300
    End of Information

    Hi,

Should be fine to have both ticked.
Can you confirm, the dashboard says that “Backup is not scheduled”?

    Are you using multisite?

    Jason.

Jason, this is the error message that I received this morning. No, I have only one site: https://www.neversaydiebeauty.com As I mentioned, the plugin worked fine for at least a month, and stopped backing up on schedule last week.

    Last backup:

    4th Feb 2013 2.06.39 AM (Scheduled)
    Failed
The backup ran for 36 s and backed up 0 B in 0 files. A total of 0 B in 0 files were scanned.

    Configuration checklist:

    Backups are scheduled
Daily – The next backup will begin at 5th Feb 2013 2.05.00 AM.
    Compression is available
Backup sizes will be significantly reduced.
    Encryption is enabled
Backups will be encrypted with AES128 level encryption.
Filesystem backup is enabled in schedule
WordPress will be backed up completely in scheduled backups.
Online backup is disabled in schedule

Oops, I posted too soon. Just to be clear, I wanted my backups emailed to me rather than stored online so that’s what I checked. Again, that worked fine for more than a month, and now does not work. I am able to do a manual backup that I get emailed to me, but it’s a pain to have to do that. Any ideas?

Can you go to Activity Log.

Can you see any schedule activities that ran to email? Should be able to tell by looking for one where it has a calendar icon and also an email icon (the legend is displayed at the bottom)

If you can find one and it says failed, open it up and it should tell us exactly what the error is.

Here’s the error msg from the activity log:

Two attempts to send the email timed out. It looked like PHP would have enough to memory to process backup files of up to 38.4 MiB, and your backup file is 254.64 KiB. There may be an issue with your WordPress installation’s ability to send emails with attachments, or something is causing the emailing process to use more memory than it normally would. Try reducing the size of your backup and check that any email-related plugins are functioning normally.

I’m confused because it had no problem sending the email for more than a month, & I haven’t changed anything. And it has no problem sending the email from a manual backup.

    Hi acohen,

Did it coincide with an update to the plugin?
Can you try changing the schedule to online, and then change it back to email and type your email address in again?

I’ll do some testing our side too.

    Jason.

Could you also paste more of the event log so we can see the events leading up to failure? Of course you can retract your email from it before you paste it in since it will likely show it in the event log, just replace it with something else.

The first failure occurred on Jan. 30. I don’t recall whether I updated the plug-in at that time. sorry

It is possible that I changed the email address from the address associated with my wordpress account to the email address associated with my website, and they are different. I changed the email address to the one associated with my wordpress account and I will see if it works for the backup scheduled for 2am. If there are continued problems, I’ll get back to you. Thank you so far for suggesting looking at the email address.

OK, sounds like it might be the host is unable to send emails to the new address for some reason.
    Let’s see what happens.

    Hi acohen5276,

Very strange! At least it is working now. Let us know if the problem starts again and we can see if we can find the problem again.
