• I just upgraded to 3.5.1. After the upgrade, I clicked to save a post, and it hung for a while, showing the spinner. The next time I went to my Dashboard, all my posts and pages had been deleted. Comments remained.

I have a backup, so it’s not a huge deal. But in my six years of using WordPress, this has never happened. I just wanted to alert the WordPress dev team so they can know that this latest update has a serious problem.

  • Not had any problems on the 5 sites I’ve upgraded so far. Just off to do the other 8 or so.

I was able to upgrade okay, but when I edited a post, that’s when the mass delete occurred.

That sounds like you might have some database damage. Do you have a pre-upgrade database backup?

Yes, I have a pre-upgrade database. I used it to restore the deleted posts/pages. I actually tried upgrading again, and I went through the same process — seeing all my posts/pages get deleted shortly after.

I guess I could do a WordPress XML export and try that if the database problem occurs again, but it’s not my first choice.

If I’m the only one experiencing the issue, then I guess I have something different about my setup and database. I might wait a week and see if anyone else experiences the same thing.

I used it to restore the deleted posts/pages.

Suggestion; try another restore but this time, before upgrading, go through the database repairing all of the tables. Then backup up again before starting the upgrade.

Also ensure that you deactivate all plugins and switch to 2012 before you upgrade – just in case a plugin or your theme is a factor.

Thanks esmi. I’ll try that.I do use the wp db manager plugin to back up my database, and I did run the optimize tables option. Last time I did that, it took a while to finish. I’ll try doing that again. I appreciate your help.

    No problem ??
