Media embeds & custom post types

    Hi firstly I have to say I love OGraphr – at first I didn’t because of this problem but then I realised what the issue was then was very happy my video posts now have the proper thumbnail!

    The issue is that my theme (Shaken Grid) like some others has a custom post type, a separate ‘Media URL’ field which creates the auto embed for you (this was before WP included them) and appears above the post title like with Featured Images.

    This means if you post the video there, no thumbnails are seen by OGraphr at all. Only way around this is to also post the YouTube/video URL into the main post, save it, then delete it, which will be a pain if I forget.

    Is there a way that OGraphr could check a custom field also?

    so do you use this custom field for video urls only or also for images? this custom field, is it created by your theme or do you need an extra plugin for that?

    should be quick to implement and others might need it as well. just waiting for your reply and i’ll get going ??

    hmm, do you use the premium version of shaken grid? i can’t seem to find such a custom field in the free version.

    I thought it was in all versions but might be just the Pro version…it’s called ‘Video URL’ but you can put in all the usual oEmbed things like YouTube, Vimeo, Soundcloud etc. It appears in the post page usually just under the post.

    I can send you the theme to test it?

    OK here you go – the field and also the custom field – it creates a field called soy_vid_url – the example I’d already also pasted the URL into the content box, hence the oGraphr fields.

    btw, you will notice that the new version (0.7.9) no longer has those adjustments i made. however, i added those changes to the custom built i posted before – just download that one until i apply a permanent solution!
