Hi Frank , thanks for this plugin!
This really helped in my site with many Contributors for so many Categories who are lazy to set a featured image.

Just a question though, how can a post author override a predefined featured image that I set using FPW Category Thumbnails? This is in cases where authors choose to use what he/she wants? I tried removing the Featured Image set by default and uploading a new one but it disregards the one I just uploaded when saved.

I am also looking for a solution to auto set/override predefined Featured Image to use an image used in the post instead. Hopefully FPW Category Thumbnails will allow this as well.

Hope to hear from you, thanks!

  • Featured image changes do not require a post update so the author can manually change it without any interference from the plugin. If you expect frequent modifications of posts then set ‘Do not overwrite if post / page has thumbnail assigned already’ option.

    Hi Frank,

    Sorry for the late response.

‘Do not overwrite if post / page has thumbnail assigned already’ is active in my setup.

Actually my problem is when I first create the article and I chose to set my desired featured image (instead of the pre-assigned in FPW), the plugin seems to insist using the pre-assigned in FPW.

What’s the proper way to achieve this? Only use the pre-assigned featured image in FPW if I didn’t assign one when creating a post?

    Thanks!

Sorry, this is not yet resolved for me.
    Please help, thanks!

Create a new post and publish it. FPW Category Thumbnails will assign its predefined image. Go to edit the post and set your own image then exit without updating. Every conecutive edit with update will preserve your image as long as Do not overwrite if post / page has thumbnail assigned already is checked.
