Can't upload photos–get a "failed to write to disk" error

  • I’ve used WordPress for years and as of this evening,can no longer upload photos! I get a message, “[name of photo] has failed to upload due to an error” followed by “failed to write to disk.” Older photos already in my gallery can be re-inserted in my posts, but it won’t accept new ones.

    I need to get some photos into blog posts asap–any ideas? Help!!

  • That’s a webhost problem; ask them what’s up. They’ve run out of disk space or something. You can reinsert images becuase they’re already on the server.

    The error could be related to insufficient space left on your hosting account or a tmp directory issue. Compare your available storage space on your account with the actual used space and see if that may be an issue. Your hosts support group may be able to guide you to a solution.
