• Hi there,

I recently switched my domain name from a blog site to a website. So my blog site it now found at domainname.com/blog. Since I did that all of my blogs that are found on google still have the old name of “domainname.com/bogtitle” instead of “domainname.com/blog/blogtitle”. I tried the plugin to redirect but I have not seen any changes. About how long does it take for good to pick up on it?
Also..just to make sure I am doing this correctly….
for the request do I enter “/blogtitle/” or do I enter the entire url of “domainname.com/blogtitle” ?
I hope this all makes sense!! I am new to word press ??
    Thanks

    Hi Ashley,
The redirects should take place instantly. I suspect the issue that you’re having is that the plugin is installed at domainname.com which is, for our purposes, an entirely different site than blog.domainname.com. There are a couple of ways to resolve this:

    * Ask your web host to help you create a domain-level redirect from blog.domainname.com to domainname.com/blog. If you’re using the same permalink structure, everything should just work without the need to even use this plugin.
    * If you have changed the permalink structure, you can still have your web host redirect requests from blog.domainname.com to domainname.com and then redirect the posts on an individual basis.
    * Worst case scenario, you could run WordPress at blog.domainname.com and install the plugin there, setting up all of the redirects in the plugin. Your redirects would then look like this:

    Request: /blogtitle/
    Destination: https://domain.com/blog/blogtitle/

The first option is going to be the best for you, and your web host should be able to help you set it up very quickly.
