Maybe someone can help me. I installed WordPress default on my home webserver (www.tikoweb.com). I did that on my second home pc. All looked well. Getting to my work this morning and opening my URL I noticed that only the right sidebar is presented. Anyone experience with that??

  • If you look at your source, it’s trying to pull all your files (CSS, images, etc.) from a 10.x.x.x IP address, which is usually an IP address within a network meant for use on a local LAN only… my guess is an editing program that replaced paths with local settings without you noticing. It worked while you were at home because you were on that 10.x.x.x IP, but the outside world doesn’t have access to that.

I’d suggest getting a fresh copy of WP files and re-uploading as there’s no telling what else has been modified. Then make your edits in some other program than what you were using – or check your settings in that editor.

Hi, Well, I did put back all original WP-xxxx files from the install software. Then I went to someone and viewed my site on his pc. Still the same. Only the left side bar visible. Login not possible etc.
Do you have any other idea

    Thanks,

    Ties

I’m getting connection refused when I try to go to your site at the moment.

Stupid me, I had not switched it on. Sorry. It is switched on now. I noticed (but I don’t know if that has something to do with the sidebar problem) that the site reacts slow.

It should work now, (it does on my 2nd pc)

F.y.i: Its working on a Dell Windows 98 SEII machine

It loads very, very slow, but that’s likely due to the fact that it’s still trying to pull files from a 10.0.0.X IP address. It finally times out when it can’t get those files, then shows you what it can grab.

Check your settings in the admin under Options :gt; General – what are Blog Address URI and WordPress Address URI set to?

Both my inside IP address. Must it be my outside address??

fyi: I have an ADSL router, where port 80 is routed to the Dell PC

Yes, that’s where the problem is. The Blog URI & WordPress address should be the outside address, I believe, though I’ve never tried to run WP from my own machine before.

Try switching it to Blog Address URI: https://www.tikoweb.com/ and WordPress Address URI: https://www.tikoweb.com/ (unless you have WP installed in a subdirectory, then https://www.tikoweb.com/xxx where xxx=the subdirectory WP is in).

Well, I did, now I get only the side bar on my pc’s, but maybe you are able to see my face now. lol

Yep, now I can see everything. ?? So… you might want to try to work on the design part on your other PC?

Yes, it would be nice to use my other pc (XP) for monitoring/changing/adding items. Because the DELL is also an FTP server for family photos for thefamily living everywhere. So if you have a good solution for that, I think that would be useful, also to others

But anyway thanks for this I will close this item and check it as solved (or do you want to give the solution right away?)

    Thanks

Question: As I cannot work via my Dell now (the pc where it is installed) as I only see the sidebar there, does it mean I need acces from an outside my house pc?

You might want to keep an eye on this thread, as Direkt seems to have encountered the same issue. ??
