Showing specific things on sidebar

Hi,

I’m using the Static Page as Home plugin to use WordPress as a CMS of sorts… the thing is, on my home page, I want to hide a few things on my sidebar (mainly the blog categories and links), but have them visible when my blog is viewed.

I saw the “?php /* If this is the frontpage */ if ( is_home() || is_page() ) { ?” line in my sidebar, so I was wondering if I can use this line to accomplish what I’m trying to do — they would be hidden on the home page, but once you go into my blog you can see them.

I really don’t know much about php, so if someone can help me out I’d be really grateful.
