• I’m loving WordPress so far.

    (I’m using the “Default” theme.)

I’m not much of a programmer but I’ve been able to tweak important things (to me) like changing the label “No Comments” to “Add a Comment” below a post when no comments have yet been posted.

Each time I change a file I first duplicate the virgin file and append “_original” to the file name. Then I change the file.

What will happen with future small upgrades that are primarily bug fixes? Will the upgrade be able to retain these customizations that I’ve done directly to the files?

    Thanks,

    Shai

  • Any of the files you change in the wp-content directory (and sub-directories) are upgrade safe (as long as you follow the upgrade directions).

Any changes you make anywhere else, you will lose in an upgrade, and it makes a LOT of sense to keep a tab on those.

For most users, the only changes you’ll make will be in the wp-content folder, so you’re probably ok. ??
