• I created a new blog, and I’m trying to point my domain at it that I already own. It’s giving me a 404 Error. I believe I need to change my nameservers, but I’m not sure how. It says google owns them, but I can’t find out how to log into the website to change the nameservers. Failing that, I was going to take the blog back to the original .wordpress.com address, but it’s still showing a 404 Error. Help, please!

  • Hi, Amanda –

Is your blog hosted at wordpress.com? If so, this document might be of help:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

You may have better luck posting at the WordPress.com forums as opposed the forums at WP.org; the WP.org forums are for those experiencing issues with self-hosted (not WP.com) blogs.

If you own a domain name and are wondering how to change its nameservers to get it to point to your hosting account, that procedure is different depending on where you registered the domain. Try consulting someone associated with the registrar; often, there will be a live chat into which you can enter, or a toll-free telephone number you can call to get help.

    Good luck!

Oh, dang! Thank you, dandelion123, that is exactly my problem. I googled support and didn’t realize I’d landed on the site where folks are self-hosted. Thank you for taking the time to find the proper link for me, that is very sweet of you!
