Press This: Make the Title Link to the URL of the external site
-
Here’s what I’m trying to do: I have a page that is a collection of posts that are each links to news stories, reports, etc. The body of the post is usually one sentence about what the post links to.
I’m using the Press This bookmarklet, to create a link to each page. With Press This, If you don’t select any text, Press This automatically puts the title of the page as the title of the post and then puts a link to the page in the body of the post. And as is the case with any post, the default with WP, is that the title of the post is a hyperlink to a single-post page for that post.I would like to change those behaviors so that in the resulting post, the title of the post is actually a link to the external URL.
I’ve seen some similar questions about how to do the post title as an external url, but to me (If i understand the description) they don’t (completely) solve the problem because (1) they don’t involve Press This, and (2) they seem to require you to manually add the URL.
So, my question is: how might I customize the press this bookmarklet so that its default function is take the URL of the page being “pressed” and perhaps add it to custom field, and then make that custom field the URL that the post title links to. Any guidance would be appreciated.
