• Just few minutes ago, I tried to upgrade to WordPress 3.5 via the dashboard. Upon upgrade, I got this error:

    Could not copy file.: /home/oluwatob/public_html/wp-cron.php

    Installation Failed

When trying to visit my site, the following error is displayed:

Fatal error: Call to a member function register_handler() on a non-object in /home/oluwatob/public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 944

Once again, the concerned site is https://www.oluwatobisoyombo.com. I will appreciate any help from this community.

    Thanks

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Twelve theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Thank you so much. I just applied your suggestions and my site is now back up. I really appreciate your support.

Confirmed that this worked for me too. Thanks esmi, as always you’re a great help.

Hi esmi, can you help me?
I’ve a client, they upgrading wordpress to the newest version without backup the file at first and then when they getting an error while upgrading process they restore to the previous version.
The problem is unable to access wp-admin with error Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 262144 bytes exhausted i have tried to googled the solutions and already tried to increase memori limit.
They said they use newest WP Database with previous WP Version.

I have tried to Upgrading manually and then getting an error “Fatal error: Call to a member function register_handler() on a non-object” and i’ve tried your suggestion to deactivated all the plugin and also the template but it still doesn’t work.

Hope this problem can be solved soon!

Thanks in advanced and sorry for my bad english ;).

    Regards,
    Teguh
